  The Dream

As I lean upon the pine rail fence
I feel hope and love and pride,
I see my dream in view.
This beautiful gift God gave,
With head and tail held high,
I see my dream in view.
With spirit majestic and free
God's creation lives.
I see joyfilled rides on beautiful trails.
I see excitement when blue ribbons are held
To touch the silky, glossy hair,
And comb the long and flowing mane,
I see the sparkle in those big beautiful eyes.
I see my dream in view.
We have share feelings of hope, reward,
and love.
As I lean upon the pine rail fence,
I see my dream in view,
My Quarter Horse, My Friend.

Skips Hi Jazz AKA Speedy is a 1D (AAA - AAA+) rated barrel and pole horse. THIS HORSE CAN MOVE.  She is very athletic, agile, quick on her feet, and catty. She is also very easy to work with, willing, and forgiving.

Speedy is a chestnut mare with a wide blaze and 2 high hind socks. She has a long mane and tail. Her tail drags the ground. She is very well cared for and has chrome. She stands right about 15.1 hands and about 1150lbs. She is not a big bulky mare but she does have good muscle tone and bone.

Speedy is a very alert mare when it comes to the rider. She only does what she feels the rider can handle. She takes care of you. She will adjust to each riders needs. She is great around kids and people. My 8 year old daughter has been riding her over the past 4 years with no problems weather she is on trail or in the arena.

Unfortunately Speedy sat for 1 year when I was pregnant. She did get a bit on the chunky side but is loosing the pot belly. She is currently under saddle again and doing great. She never missed a beat. She is a wonderful mare with a heart of gold. Picked it right back up like she never had time off. She is currently getting back in shape and becoming "Herself" again.

Speedy is NOT your typical barrel horse. Speedy will walk in and out of an arena with her head down. To give you a good idea of how this mare is you would have to come see for yourself. In the short - I can walk in to an arena with a loose rein and with her head down. I can then RUN my pattern and walk out with a loose rein and her head down. I can then put my 8 year old daughter on her and send her right back into the arena. My daughter can then walk her pattern with a loose rein and with her head down. Then when she is done my daughter can Walk right out of the arena like nothing. This is why I say she is not your typical barrel horse.

Speedy is SAFE and SANE for all levels of riders including kids.  My 8 year old daughter rides and handles her. My daughter learned to ride on speedy. Speedy has also been used for pony rides at a few b-day parties for kids. Speedy is NOT spooky, jumpy, easily agitated, barn sour, gate sour, arena sour, marish, etc. She has NO bad habits. Great ground manners. She has even been through a few drive thru's. I have a thing for Mc Donalds. She rides through anything, even thru low bridges, along railroad track with trains, near helicopters, quads, tractors, etc. She is about as Bombproof as Bombproof gets. She has yet to refuse anything with me.

Speedy works off leg cues. She is soft and supple even in her ribs. She gives at the pole. She DOES NOT require a tie down nor has she ever used one - I retract that. I did use one one time on her for color guard. All the other horses required one so I had to use one so I would match everyone else. For decoration I did use one so I would match.

Speedy rides in a side pull or little s hack on trail and in the arena. I use a ring snaffle for "tune ups" and the harshest bit I have ever used on her is a tomb thumb with silver on it. I run in a Little S Hack or a Tomb Thumb. In all honestly you could run her in a halter. She rides with a string around her neck and responds to your seat and leg cues. She has a soft mouth. She plow reins and neck reins. She is broke right and has no holes. Very controllable at all times, at new places, on the ground, around new objects, and even in the arena. Speedy clips, ties, trailers, and ponies. She will slso pony another horse.

Speedy was raced and did place on the track. She was pulled off the track before she could get her SI.

Speedy is GREAT on trail and in the ARENA. She has done just about everything including but not limited to Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Gymkhana, Play Days, Outside Trail, Camping, Team Penning, Turn Back, Gathering Cattle, Roping - Break Away and heeling (I cant rope to save my life but she did great), Drill Team, Flag Team, Color Guard, Parades, Rodeo Queen mount, Lessons, Lead Line, and much much more. The list just keeps going. You name it, she has done it.

She clips, ties, trailers, ponies, and bathes great. She loves to swim. Speedy will load and unload with ease. Backs out of a trailer. She will load in anything. She is sure footed. She is great for a farrier. She is currently bare foot but will have shoes put on for harder work. She does not require shoes or any special care. I would say she is a medium keeper. I feed her more than my other horses when she is being used simply because she is used so much.

She has clean legs. The only blemish/old injury she has is a small scar on her left front cannon bone. If you dont look for it you cant find it. She scraped her leg out in a field when we were on a rail ride. It required no special care or stitches. It was superficial. Caused no soundness issues or discomfort of any kind.

I ride in full leg gear at all times, even on trail or practice. Full leg gear to me is front and back combo boots and bell boots or over reach boots. She is not one to over reach but a little extra protection never hurts in my mind.

Speedy has never been bred and she is caslicked.

I simply cant say enough about her. If your looking for a safe, sound horse to win on, HERE SHE IS. She is current with a current Health Cert and Coggins. Vet checks are welcome. Price will go up as I am now able to ride again. PLEASE NOTE - I have been raising this mares price as her training and using ability becomes "normal" again. I have not had the time to adjust her price or my other horses price on all websites where they are currently advertised. Please check here for her actual selling price. Great approved home a must. Terms available to the right home. May lease to the right SHOW home.

Breeder/Owner at reg: W.J.Culbertson, Albuquerque,N.M. Spencer Childers is more pleased with Black Easter Bunny`s Hall of Fame induction than his own. The Hall of Fame horseman`s breeding program began with - and is still based on - the mare he purchased from trainer Walt Culbertson in 1957. The 1952 champion 3-year-old filly, Black Easter Bunny, by Hysition(TB) and out of Flicka, campaigned from age 2 to 7, winning $40,232 during a time of small purses. She started 111 races, winning 21 times, with 22 seconds and 14 thirds, and set or equaled three track records. As a broodmare, she produced seven foals. Five of those started races, each a winner and Register of Merit-earner, including the stakes-placed Moon Deck gelding Harlequin and champion Bunny`s Bar Maid. Bunny`s Bar Maid was Black Easter Bunny`s first daughter, Childers said. She was by Three Bars (TB) and won her first six starts. She ran in nothing except the best races. As Black Easter Bunny`s most prominent offspring, Bunny`s Bar maid won the Kansas Futurity in 1961, less than a month before clocking the fastest qualifying time to the All American Futurity. In the final, Bunny`s Bar Maid was second to champion Pokey Bar. In 11 races, Bunny`s Bar Maid earned more than $72,000. The blood continues today. Childers` latest champion, Uncas, who was the top 2-year-old gelding in 1996, and stakes winner Luva Secret, both descend from Black Easter Bunny. The blue-hen mare is the sixth dam of Uncas, while Luva Secret descends from Bunny`s bar Boy, a full brother to Bunny`s Bar Maid. Looking back, Childers would have enjoyed more years with Black Easter Bunny in his breeding program. She raised some very fine horses for us, Childers said. But Black Easter Bunny had a relatively short breeding career. She suffered an injury while she was away being bred, and that ended her career and her life. She was a wonderful mare.

Her gracefulness runs through her body
Mane splashing in all directions
Tail sailing high
Barely touching the ground as she runs
Like floating in midair
So happy and free
Running wild as a mountain stream
Buried inside ferocious anger
Traveling through her body with lightning speed and grace

Across an endless sea of grass
And underneath an open sky
With tossing head and flying mane
Her thundering hooves do fly

As fast as if to race the wind
The lead mare's hooves eat up the ground
Her stallion gone to roam the land
She will take his place for now

This task she does not nor will take lightly
So instead she plays her part
Her noble mind knows full and well
That freedom reigns inside her heart

And so the thunder of flying hooves
Grows never softer nor fades at all
With wild spirit that none can tame
She neighs an echoing, piercing call

Her herd behind answers her
Quickening still their flying feet
Forever for reasons yet untold
Each footfall matches each heartbeat

Countless legends say the same
The wild horses proudly ran
Under the shadow of mountains tall
Since the day that time began

And this mare shows she will not cease
Proudly proving how wild and free
She leads her herd under the sky
And across a grassy sea.
